Former All Black Ma'a Nonu has gone into ownership, buying into Major League Rugby club, the San Diego Legion.
The club has announced that the 103 test midfielder has become a part-owner.
Nonu played for the Legion from 2020 to 2024.
"I'm honored to take this next step with the San Diego Legion," said Nonu on the club website.
"This club and its fans have meant a great deal to me during my time as a player. I believe in the vision of growing rugby in the United States, and I'm excited to contribute to the future of the Legion both on and off the field."
The club said while Nonu's involvement is a confidence boost for them it should also have a far-reaching impact on MLR as a whole.
"The Legion and its fans could not be more excited to have Ma'a come into ownership and represent the Legion on a global scale," said San Diego Legion founding member Ryan Patterson.
"He was instrumental in driving a winning culture on the field and will continue to uphold that culture for us in the years to come off the field."
Nonu, 42, is still playing rugby, recently joining RC Toulon in France as medical cover.
The San Diego Legion were founded in 2017.
They have finished runners-up in the competition twice.
