Legislation that would create the Crown Entity Kāinga Ora-Homes and Communities has passed its third and final reading in parliament.
Kāinga Ora will have two main roles-to act as a public housing landlord and to lead and co-ordinate housing and urban development projects.
The bill passed 63 votes to 57, with Labour, New Zealand First and the Greens all supporting the bill- National, ACT and Jami-Lee Ross were opposed.
The bill will now go to Royal Assent before being passed into law.
