A highly-respected educator and spiritual healer, Dr Rangimarie (also known as Rose) Pere, has urged Maori to celebrate what they have.
Dr Pere told the Takitimu Business conference in Hastings that Maori have a lot to celebrate.
She said hapu should be celebrating the positive rather than dwelling on the negatives of life.
The charismatic speaker urged her audience to counter the troubles of the world by making sure everyone has enough kai - and to plant as they'd never planted before.
Dr Pere's educational book, Te Wheke-The Celebration Of Infinite Wisdom, is used in many overseas countries, and has been translated into Japanese and German.
