Creative New Zealand is streamlining its application process for groups who want to encourage the arts on their marae.
Organisations who want to see the arts flourishing on their marae can more simply apply for Toi Ake funding.
Previously groups had to submit two applications - which included a development strategy - and then re-apply to carry out the art project.
Applicants now submit a current arts strategy which outlines what is needed to develop local art.
Chair of Te Waka Toi Darrin Haimona says Toi Ake funding has also opened up to include more groups with maataa waka, or kinship groups outside their rohe.
He says Toi Ake aims to restore the mana of the arts to marae communities by supporting the transfer of knowledge and skills from the tohunga or experts to the next generation.
Toi Ake supports the artworks of new wharenui but does not include restoration projects.
Up to $65,000 is available in funding. The funding round closes on Friday 2 March.
