It's a small world, after all

This real-time map of births and deaths around the world is good for a quick jolt of perspective. It’s the project of one Brad Lyon, who has a doctoral degree in mathematics, works in software development, and last year released the hugely popular interactive simulation map of births and deaths in the United States alone. “This one for world births/deaths is certainly more overwhelming than the one for the U.S.,” Lyon told The Atlantic, “and the rate at which they must be occurring gives another glimpse into how big the world is.” Now that’s what we call data visualisation.
