Roast Buster Beraiah Halesn has told the New Zealand Herald he’s now "one of the most hated people in New Zealand" after allegations he had sex with drunk, underage girls.
Hales and Joseph Parker are alleged to have been ringleaders of the group called Roast Busters, a group mainly from West Auckland, who bragged on their Facebook page about having sex with girls as young as 13.
The pair and several other members have been investigated by police since late 2011 after a 13-year old made a formal complaint.
However, Hales says he’s not worried.
"It wasn't the police that put it on the news, it was the media. And also the police haven't done anything wrong here ... As long as I know the truth I'll be fine," he said.
Hales said the investigation is still going because the police can’t drop it.
"It's still going because how would it look if police announced that it all got dropped, that nothing is going to happen? No one would trust them any more because of what the media has said about us," he told the newspaper.
