Hughes died yesterday evening after being struck in the head by a bouncer while playing for South Australia against New South Wales on Tuesday.
Cricket Australia made the announcement and said its thoughts went out to
Hughes’ family, friends and the entire cricket community.
The 25-year-old underwent surgery to relieve pressure on his brain but never regained consciousness.
Australian Cricket team doctor Peter Brukner said Hughes was not in pain before he died and was surrounded by his family and close friends.
