The Others Way: The Others Way festival takes place this Friday night and features over 30 local alt acts, including Aldous Harding, Ghost Wave, Miss June, and a reformed Garageland. Likened to festivals such as SxSW and CMJ, the event is spread across six venues in and around K Road. Tickets to the R18 event sold out this morning and those heading along can find the timetable here.
Hiatus Kaiyote: “Future soul” act Hiatus Kaiyote are in the country for two shows, tonight in Auckland and tomorrow evening in the capital. Based out of Melbourne, it’ll be the first time the band have played in New Zealand and the shows follow a recent well-received performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tickets are $35.
A Place To Bury Strangers: We know it’s not technically this weekend, but former D4 guitarist Dion Lunadon is bringing his New York-based band, A Place To Bury Strangers, down under for one show this Monday at the King’s Arms. Tickets to the show are $49.50 and you can catch their just-released video for ‘Now It’s Over’ below.
Going Global: Music industry summit Going Global is on over the weekend, with panel discussions, workshops and much more taking place. As part of the event, organisers are also hosting a showcase of local acts on Saturday, featuring sets from Anthonie Tonnon, Diaz Grimm, Kane Strang, Nadia Reid, Fazerdaze, New Gum Sarn, SJD and Suren Unka. Delaney Davidson: With his much-anticipated new album Lucky Guy out this Friday, Delaney Davidson is heading out on a brief three-date tour of the country. Ahead of a show later this month in Wellington, the Lyttleton singer/songwriter hits Christchurch this Saturday and Auckland on Monday to celebrate the release. Punk It Up: Back together for one show only, legendary Auckland punk outfit No Tag play the Kings Arms on Saturday alongside The Spelling Mistakes, The X-Features and The Cavemen. The band have a reissue of their debut self-titled EP set for release soon and this will be their first show with their original lineup in over 20 years. Tickets for show are available from Under The Radar.
Kamandi: Christchurch’s Kamandi plays his first show at home in a long while this Saturday at Dux Live. The producer has recently been collaborating with LA-based rapper Azizi Gibson on his forthcoming album prehistoric Till Death, which is out next month, and support for Saturday’s show comes from Lovers, Yvnalesca, Thanks and GETSET.
