Dunedinmusic.com 10th birthday: This Saturday, dunedinmusic.com are celebrating 10 years in the game by bringing together 12 local acts for their birthday party, including Death and The Maiden, Arcee, Graeme Downes Machina Rex and more. The celebration will be split into two, with an all-ages show taking place earlier in the day ahead of the R18 event. Find out everything you need to know here.
Silver Scrolls: Lorde, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Marlon Williams, Anthonie Tonnon and Mel Parsons are in the running for this year’s Silver Scroll, which is being awarded at a ceremony this evening at Vector Arena. We’ll be live blogging the event along with the Music 101 team at Radio NZ, so check back here this evening for more.
Yoko-Zuna: Four-piece electro/hip-hop act Yoko-Zuna play this Saturday at Auckland venue Golden Dawn. The band, who released their debut album This Place Here back in July, will also be joined by Young Gifted and Broke’s The Side Steps Quintet and Kerosene Comic Book’s Totems. Doors open at 8pm and entry is $5.
The Kill Screen: The Pantograph Punch are holding the last of three storytelling nights this evening at Q Theatre in Auckland. The Kill Screen aims to explore “when to put the pen down” and the diverse panel includes Chelsea Jade, Courtney Sina Meredith, Eli Kent and Toby Morris. The show begins at 6pm and entry is $15.
The Phoenix Foundation: With their new album Give Up Your Dreams just released, The Phoenix Foundation begin their nine-date tour around the country tonight with the first of two shows lined up at Wellington’s San Fran. The six-piece act will be joined by Disasteradio and continue on with a show at the Cabana in Napier on Saturday. Find more details and tickets via their official site.
Pass The Gat: After teaming up to play in Wellington a few weeks back, Warren Maxwell, Louis Baker and Thomas Oliver are taking their Pass The Gat show to Auckland for a show this Friday at The Tuning Fork. Grab tickets from Ticketmaster and you read our review of the performance here.
Salute To Mr B: Following the passing of Graham Brazier recently, Hello Sailor’s 40th anniversary will now be marked by a tribute show. This Friday, at Auckland’s Powerstation, the band will perform with special guests filling in for the late frontman, “sending him on his way in true style”. They’ll also be joined by Band of Brothers, the local act featuring Jordan Luck and Peter Urlich.
