The Transistors and The Situations: Papakura’s The Situations have hooked up with Rangiora act The Transistors for a double release tour beginning on Friday. The two bands play the Darkroom in Christchurch before heading to Dunedin for a show on Saturday, and also have gigs lined up in Auckland and Raglan next week. Wiz Khalifa: After performing at Rhythm & Vines a couple of years back, American weed-rap star Wiz Khalifa is returning to New Zealand for a show at Vector Arena on Friday. He’ll be here off the back of his latest album Blacc Hollywood and recent no. 1 single ‘See You Again’, which was featured on Furious 7. Scoop up tickets here.

Tami Neilson: Canadian-born/NZ-based singer Tami Neilson is releasing her new album Don’t Be Afraid this Friday and she’s celebrating with an album launch party in Auckland. The critically loved singer, who won the Tui for Best Country Album three consecutive times and took out the Silver Scroll last year, plays The Tuning Fork with guests Hopetoun Brown. Odesza: Following a show at the Kings Arms earlier in the year, Seattle-based production duo Odesza are back for sold-out shows in Auckland and Wellington over the next couple of nights. Known for their hit ‘Say My Name’, the much-hyped act play at San Fran this evening before a show at the St James Theatre on Friday.

Amiria Grenell: With her new album Autumn about to drop, local folk singer/songwriter Amiria Grenell is heading out on a five-date tour, beginning in Banks Peninsula on Friday. The Lyttleton-based musician who is also a member of Fly My Pretties, also heads home for a show on Saturday night before continuing on the road next week. Details via Facebook.

Chrony Bailout: With news that the Chronophonium are being prosecuted, organisers have put together a series of “bailout” shows, including a post-sentencing party this Saturday at Whammy Bar. There’ll be sets from Lipgloss Slumberparty, Sea Views, Ron Gallipoli, Greenfog and Team Cat Food, and you can find out more here.

Sorts x LVJ: We recently profiled LVJ for Introducing, and now the local producer is crewing up with Tubertechno’s Sorts for an upcoming split release called Firsts. They’ll also be celebrating with a release party at Whammy Bar this Friday, with support from t.king, Golden Fern, Lapis and Team Cat Food.
