Lontalius: After releasing ‘All I Wanna Say’ the new single from his forthcoming album, Wellington’s Eddie Johnston aka Lontalius is on his way to New York for the CMJ Festival. Before he leaves though, he’ll be playing a one-off just-announced show at Neck Of The Woods on K Rd. Support comes from Chelsea Jade and DJ's Martyn Pepperell & Aniwaniwa, and tickets are $10 from Under The Radar.
Beastwars and Jakob: Colossal heavy metal act Beastwars are hitting the road with post-rock act Jakob for a four-date tour of the country. Beginning on Friday at Christchurch venue Allen St, the two bands continue on in Dunedin on Saturday before heading north for shows in Wellington and Auckland next weekend. Both bands have a reputation for a memorable live show, so grab tickets while you can.
PCP Eagles et al: A lineup of PCP Eagles, Sal Valentine and The Babyshakes, Rackets and Hopetoun Brown are getting together for a show this Friday at Auckland’s Kings Arms. Presale tickets to see the four Auckland bands are $15 via Under The Radar or $20 on the door thereafter.
The Church Tour: Now in its seventh year, The Church Tour sees Delaney Davidson, Tami Neilson, Barry Saunders and Marlon Williams team up for nine shows across New Zealand, beginning tonight in Napier. The tour continues this weekend with dates in Tauranga and Auckland, with tickets and full event info over here.
MessMess and Yukon Era: Brisbane act MessMess have crewed up with Auckland band Yukon Era, who we recently profiled for Introducing, and this week they finish off their North Island tour with gigs in Wellington, Palmerston North and Auckland. SHE: This weekend sees a showcase of female electronica artists from around the country get together for two shows in Auckland and Whangarei. Stef T, Taipei Teahouse and EDIE play at Whammy Bar on Friday ahead of a performance at The Old Stone Butter Factory on Saturday. Entry is $10.
Avalanche City and Benny Tipene: Auckland alt-folk musician Dave Baxter - the man behind Avalanche City – is teaming up with Benny Tipene for a tour that begins this weekend. The first show is on Friday night at Christchurch’s Cardboard Cathedral before the two head to Dunedin’s Glenroy Auditorium on Saturday. Tickets are available here.
