Music 101's Zac Arnold catches up with The Transistors following the release of their latest EP, Cuppa Jarra Brossa.

It was a banner year for The Transistors in 2012. The trio from Rangiora released their sophomore album, toured Australasia and had a lengthy stint in the US opening for Guitar Wolf.
But then it went suspiciously quiet.
“If I can pinpoint it to one moment, it was in Byron Bay, opening for a band called King Cannons. We'd agreed to do a couple of shows. We thought there would be people there, turns out there weren't,” says guitarist James Harding.
“There were probably four or five people. It was just really grim.”
What they did was make a pact to not do any more shows that weren’t fun.
But it’s not all doom and gloom. Three years later, The Transistors have released a five-track EP Cuppa Jarra Brossa, available for a pay-what-you-want download through their Bandcamp. In the same vein as their earlier releases, the EP delivers snappy guitars, quick wit and seamless vocal harmonies.
