Raggamuffin: There’s a serious hip hop contingent amongst the line-up for Raggamuffin this year, including The Game, Xzibit, House of Pain and Wu-Tang Clan (who alone will guarantee that it won’t be anything short of extraordinary). If you’re considering it, tickets are still available.
Death Cab For Cutie: Seth Cohen’s favourite indie band Death Cab For Cutie are in the country for shows in Wellington and Auckland over the coming days. They’re here off the back of their latest album Kintsugi, their first release since founding member Chris Walla left the line-up. Splore: Based just out of Auckland at Tapapakanga Regional Park, three-day festival Splore is back this weekend with a line-up that includes Leftfield, Waxahatchee, Nightmares On Wax, and The Ragga Twins. Find everything you need to know right here.
LVJ: Fresh off of releasing his new EP Pizzaboy, Auckland’s LVJ heads out this weekend for a six-date tour of the country. The bedroom rap artist gets into it Friday with an all-ages show at Palmerston North’s Great Job before heading to Wellington to play a secret party the following evening. Silo Sessions: As we mentioned, every Saturday in February, Wynyard Quarter will be host to the Silo Sessions – a free event featuring local acts playing throughout the afternoon. This week will see experimental Auckland act Avoid! Avoid! perform alongside local indie outfit The Naenae Express. More here.
Twerps: Melbourne-based outfit Twerps are in New Zealand this week for two shows in support of their 2015 sophomore album Range Anxiety. The performances – which sees them play in Wellington on Friday and Auckland the following night – are the first down here since Camp A Low Hum in 2009.
