Street Chant: With their long-awaited second album Hauora out this Friday, Street Chant have lined up a bunch of tour dates spread across the month of April. First up are two shows in Auckland – one at a The Manor on Friday and another at Golden Dawn the following evening.
Homegrown: Though it’s taking place a month later than usual, Homegrown is back again this year at Wellington Waterfront. Keeping with tradition, there’s over 60 local acts on the line-up, including headliners Shapeshifter, Stan Walker and David Dallas. Much like previous years, this one’s also on the way to a sell-out. If you’re thinking of going, you might want to be quick.
The Datsuns: Ahead of their performance at Homegrown, The Datsuns have locked in their first Auckland show in well over a year. The group aren’t the easiest to get together anymore – they’re split between London, Stockholm, Auckland and Wellington – so it’s hard to say when they’ll be back. Tickets to the show, taking place at The Kings Arms, are available here.
Tourettes and Will Wood: Tourettes aka Dominic Hoey and local country musician Will Wood are teaming up for a huge 15-date tour that begins tonight in Auckland. The duo, who both have new releases out soon, are playing two shows at The Wine Cellar over the next couple of nights. From there, they have dates lined up in Whangarei and Leigh over the weekend. Hollie Smith: Water Or Gold, the new album from Hollie Smith, is out this Friday. To celebrate, she’s heading out on a release tour, beginning with a show at Top Hut in Twizel this evening. She’ll round out her South Island appearance with a show in Wanaka on Friday too. Her official site has everything you need to know.
Low: Minnesota slowcore outfit Low are in New Zealand for shows in Wellington and Auckland over the weekend. Formed back in 1993, the band’s latest album – 2015’s Ones and Sixes – was highly regarded by critics for rediscovering the stamina of their earlier releases.
