Interviews and live sets from the New Zealand music underground. This week, we check out grassroots festival Tora Tora Tora.
Nestled between rolling hills and an impressive stretch of rugged coastline, Tora Tora Tora hosts three eclectic nights of music handpicked by a passionate crew. It feels more like a private rural get-together than a music festival, and that’s exactly what gives it the unique charm. Between the great line-up of music, the breathtaking views, hoards of kids running around, and a great selection of seafood (including the famous $10 crayfish burger), there’s something to keep everyone busy – but not too busy. The relaxed atmosphere was intoxicating.
Easter weekend 2016 was the festival’s seventh year running with a line-up that included Glass Vaults, Electric Wire Hustle, Flite, Adam Page, The Spines and many more. We went down to chat to organisers and musicians about what makes Tora Tora Tora such a unique and grassroots festival.
Filmed and edited by Ezra Simons and Gussie Larkin.
