Beastwars: Force of nature four-piece Beastwars will finally unleash their third album, The Death Of All Things, on Friday. It’s a distorted and callous record and one that the Wellington band describe as the last of their ‘post-apocalyptic trilogy’. The band are also taking their new songs on the road, beginning tonight in Christchurch before shows in Wellington and Auckland over the following couple of days. It’ll be the last time they play in the country this year too. Get your tickets here.
Bailey Wiley: With her new EP S.O.M.M. out this Friday, neo-soul singer Bailey Wiley is dropping by Christchurch, Mount Maunganui and Auckland for shows over the next few days. She’ll be joined by Soraya and a couple of other special support acts for the tour too. Head over to Facebook for more.
NZ International Comedy Festival: Kicking off on Friday, this year’s NZ Comedy Festival is back to showcase some of the best talent both locally and overseas. The Comedy Gala, hosted by Rhys Darby, will launch everything but there’s heaps else on offer too. Visit their official site to get started.
Fiji-Funding: Fresh off of supporting Deradoorian last week, Auckland band SoccerPractise are playing as part of the line-up for Fiji-Funding this Friday. The show is a fundraiser for those affected by Cyclone Winston, which struck the country back in February this year, and LarzRanda and Trip Pony will also be performing. Danny Brown: Last here in 2014 as part of the line-up for Laneway festival, Danny Brown is back in the country for a one-off show tonight at The Powerstation. The Detroit rapper, who is working on his fourth studio album, is also said to have been writing a children’s book inspired by his 13-year-old daughter. The man.
Threat.Meet.Protocol: Tauranga punk trio Threat.Meet.Protocol are heading down to Wellington this Saturday for a show at Moon alongside Echo Beach, Pleasant Surprise and Hellier. The show’s in support of their new album Mindless Consumption, which is out now through Muzai Records. Entry is $10 on the door.
