Police have released the name of the man who died following an altercation in Waitara yesterday.
He was 17-year-old Te Omeka Pairama Akariri-Buckley, of Bell Block.
Police were called to the scene on Strange Street in Taranaki at 12.46am Tuesday after calls from neighbours.
The victim was transported to hospital in a critical condition, but later died from his injuries.
A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with murder.
He will appear in court next month.
