Police have launched an investigation after a man was found dead in a building at Muaūpoko Park near Lake Horowhenua.

Central District criminal investigations manager Detective Inspector Craig Sheridan said police were called at 5.40pm on Thursday.

"At this early stage of our enquiries the man's death is being treated as suspicious, pending the results of a post mortem which will take place in the coming days."

A scene guard was in place at the park and Levin residents should expect to see a police presence in the area, he said.

Anyone with information was asked to contact police.
