Police in Waikato have recovered the body of a swimmer who failed to surface in the Waikato River this week.
Emergency services were called to Jones Landing at Lake Arapuni at about 6.45pm on Friday.
Authorities used sonar to find the man later that night, roughly 30-metres off shore.
The police dive squad recovered his body on Saturday afternoon, and his death is being referred to the coroner.
