Charles Manson, one of the most notorious murderers in the United States, is eligible for parole.
He was convicted in 1970 of nine murders including that of Hollywood actress Sharon Tate.
Manson was the leader of a cult in California that was planning to incite a race war.
His last parole hearing was in 2007. Manson, 77, did not attend. Prison authorities say he will not attend this one either.
