A heatwave warning for north-west England has been extended by the Met Office.
The hottest weather is expected over western England on Friday. Eastern areas such as London and South-east England will have cooler conditions.
The BBC reports temperatures on Thursday reached 29C at Prestwick, South Ayrshire, and 31C at Porthmadog, north Wales, and Castlederg in County Tyrone.
It is Britain's first prolonged heatwave since 2006, with six consecutive days of temperatures above 30C.
Wednesday was the hottest day of the year, with 32.2C recorded at Hampton in south-west London.
