US first lady Melania Trump has undergone kidney surgery and is recovering in a Washington hospital.
According to a statement from her office, she had been experiencing an issue with her kidney, described as benign but requiring medical attention.
The 48-year-old was admitted to Walter Reed Hospital in Maryland yesterday and was expected to stay there for the next few days.
Mrs Trump is the first US first lady to undergo such a serious medical procedure while in the White House since Nancy Reagan had a mastectomy in October 1987.
President Donald Trump remained in the White House during his wife's surgery.
