Fashion from the Met Gala red carpet: Gilded Glamour

Known for celebrities in over-the-top outfits, the Met Gala returned to its traditional date of the first Monday in May, just eight months after 2021's pandemic-delayed event in September.

The event, a fundraiser for New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, has been dubbed the Oscars of the East Coast.

This year's theme? Gilded Glamour.

Lizzo's Thom Browne look took 1200 hours of hand embroidery. The singer held a gold flute, which she briefly played on the red carpet.

Given the theme, there was more than one reference to Netflix's Bridgerton on the red carpet.

Of course the stars of the hit show were there too.
