An Olympian couple called it quits on their relationship to focus on their sport. Now, they've just won gold together at the 2024 Paris Olympics - and sparked rumours of a rekindled romance.

Czech tennis stars Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac were crowned mixed doubles champions on Friday, beating China's Wang Xinyu and Zhang Zhizhen 6-2, 5-7 and 10-8.

An impressive win aside, it was their court-side celebration that had heads turning - just weeks after confirming their breakup, the pair celebrated their win with a warm embrace and a kiss.

Machac and Siniakova have become one of tennis's most recognisable power couples over the years.

The duo began dating in 2020 and juggled their personal lives and professional ambitions through countless tournaments. But at the 2024 Prague Open, just a week prior to the Paris Olympics, they announced they had called it quits.

The split sparked concerns the pair would withdraw from the Olympics completely, but Siniakova insisted they would remain professional and compete for the country.

Now, a gold medal seems to have rekindled in their romance, but the duo remained coy about their relationship in a post-match conference.

"That's our personal life, so you don't need to know that. We like when you are confused," Siniakova said.

"We are such professionals that we broke up precisely so that we could fully concentrate on this medal ... we succeeded and we will see what happens after that."

Machac added to fuel to the fire: "This is top secret".

What happens next remains to be seen, but the tennis duo are not the only ones bringing romance to the Paris Olympics.

Chinese badminton champion Huang Ya Qiong was over the moon when her boyfriend, fellow badminton player, Liu Yuchen, got down on one knee to propose.

The couple got engaged in front of a cheering crowd at Paris' La Chapelle Arena, and Huang, who won gold in the badminton mixed doubles, also stepped away with a diamond.
