Hundreds of police officers in Italy have searched premises used by suspected anarchist groups after violent riots in Rome marred a demonstration against corporate greed and income inequality.
Some 135 people were injured in the riots. Rome's mayor estimates that the damage to property amounted to at least 1 million euros ($US1.4 million).
Deutsche Welle Radio reports suspected far-left and anarchist groups were targeted in the raids early on Monday.
Investigators said they were examining computer files and video footage, and were looking for possible weapon stockpiles.
An estimated 200,000 people turned out for the protest in Rome.
Promoters of the main demonstration have accused the police of failing to intervene to isolate the violent minority.
