Ever thought about hosting a 70s dinner party? How about podcasting it?
Well, grab your popcorn, 'cause if you came for messy, then this comedy series delivers!
This is The Art of Entertaining.
Based on the 1973 book New Zealand's Practical Guide to Party Planning by Jacqueline Steincamp, Jaimee Poipoi and Maria Tanner plan and host the meanest, baddest, most uniquely New Zealand dinner party whilst vibe-checking odd and outdated party etiquette from the 70s.
It’s the mashup no one asked for, 1970s, meets 2022, meets dinner, meets podcast…

In each episode, Jaimee and Maria follow a chapter of the book and try to convince themselves they can pull this thing off. Jaimee and Maria also invite a featured guest to examine the rules of hosting and ask if the guidelines of the 1970s could even apply now?
Also, where can you buy a fondue set these days? What is a bœuf bourguignon? Did people back then really eat meat in jelly? And are Jaimee and Maria's cousins available as bouncers?
These people have no business being in a kitchen...
The Art of Entertaining is produced and presnted by Jaimee Poipoi and Maria Tanner.
Tim Watkin, Justin Gregory and Katy Gosset are the executive producers.
Blair Stagpoole is the producer and audio engineer.
Available from 3 October 2022 on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Google Podcasts and any good podcast app.
