Yachties urge more countries to follow Fiji's Blue lanes

Yachties are urging more countries to follow Fiji's Blue Lanes tourism initiative which allows mariners who comply with quarantine protocols to escape the pandemic in paradise.

More than 30 yachts and boats have been allowed to enter the country since the first vessel berthed in Nadi on 15 July.

Several more are moored off the Port Denarau Marina completing their mandatory 14-day quarantine at sea.

With the Fiji government's 'Bula Bubble' proposal with New Zealand and Australia yet to get off the ground it is hoping more yachts and particularly super-yachts will sail through their blue lanes.

But as Christine Rovoi reports, the yachties have only a couple of months left to spend in Fiji before the cyclone season, which starts in November, forces them to seek shelter elsewhere.
