Reti: been privilege to support National as Deputy

From First Up, 5:35 am on 1 December 2021

Former Air New Zealand boss and new Botany MP Christopher Luxon is National's new leader. What we know so far is that he loves country music, his favourite animal is a guinea pig and he owns seven houses. He also has a wife called Amanda and two children. The 51 year old's path to the leadership has been swift- he was only elected last year.. and has spent much of his political career untried or tested in lockdown. Our producer Ellie Jay went to his Auckland electorate of Botany to meet his constituents. Christopher Luxon's rise to the leadership comes alongside that of his new deputy, MP Nicola Willis. We'll hear from her shortly.. but it does mean there is no room for Dr Shane Reti, who was deputy alongside Judith Collins for just over a year He is highly respected and is expected to retain his health portfolio.. Nathan Rarere asked him if he'll miss being deputy leader.
