The Original Gypsies was founded by three members of The Gypsy Kings, a band that had a breakout global hit album back in the 90’s selling more than 25 million records. Their album spent over 40 weeks in the American charts.
When The Gypsy Kings disbanded three members of the band, Paul Reyes, Canut Reyes and their brother-in-law Chico Bouchikhi formed The Original Gypsies. They're based in the city of Arles in the south of France.
Gypsy music has roots from Turkey to Rajasthan and has always crossed borders, both literally and metaphorically.
The Original Gypsies is a 12-piece band, that features an impressive line-up of eight guitarists who produce a tight wall of fiery flamenco-infused rhythms, accompanied by raw, raspy vocals. The touring group includes: Chico Bouchikhi, Canut Reyes, Paul Reyes, Jose Reyes, Joseph Gautier, Manuel Deleria, Antoine Abardonada, Jean Claude Vila, Jean Pierre Cargol, Jean Farre, Frederik Breton, Tony Ballester, Ben Chaa Abbas, Pee Wee, Eric Lafont.
