American composer Joan Tower encourages the violinist to find many different sounds and dynamic styles of playing throughout this virtuosic piece.
'String Force' was commissioned in 2010 by the Indianapolis Violin Competition and is dedicated 'with great affection and admiration' to the violinist Jaime Laredo.
