Performed by Mark Menzies (viola) at the concert 4:7, "Dualities", Unitarian Church, Ponsonby, Auckland, 3 June 2021.
Thomas Bedggood is a young Christchurch composer and violinist who’s been studying at the University of Canterbury.
Mark Menzies plays the first two movements of his Sonata for solo violin, ‘Mote’ ... ‘mote’ being a small speck of dust, especially one floating in a beam of light.
Thomas was inspired by different aspects of light and colour for the three movements of ‘Mote’: the first movement by a golden suffused glow and the second by the cold-warm light of ice.
