  • Noon Remembering Rostropovich

    Mstislav Rostropovich (1927-2007)

Early on Friday, April 27th, one of the world's great musicians and humanitarians, Mstislav Rostropovich, died of cancer in Moscow. Rostropovich was among the great cellists of all time, and also a passionate spokesman for political and artistic freedom. Performers put themselves out on a limb every time they get on stage to play; it's a courageous and selfless act. Mstislav Rostropovich embodied these qualities like few musicians, or anybody, ever has. This testament to a great man hosted by Fred Child includes performances, stories and remembrances (American Public Media)
