7:00 International Rostrum of Composers 2007

    Six programmes

The 53rd of these forums for the promotion of new music was held in Paris last year. Under the auspices of the International Music Council, supported by UNESCO, national broadcasters from around the world met up to present a selection of recent music recorded in their countries. Our closest neighbours attended, and in this fourth of six programmes, ABC Classic FM's Julian Day and Lorna Lander present works submitted by delegates from public radio stations around the world (4) (ABC)

8:00 Dudley Benson live at St Matthew-in-the-City

Growing up on a Cantabrian goat farm provided a captivated audience and favourable acoustics for Dudley Benson to develop his singing talents. Eventually becoming head soloist of the Christchurch Cathedral Choir, Dudley also embraced pop and composition, creating a wholly original sound. On the heels of two sold-out and acclaimed EPs in 2006, Dudley Benson performed at St Matthew-in-the-City church in Auckland, accompanied by choir and string quartet. Radio New Zealand presents this magical recording in the candle-lit, white marble surrounds of St Matthews, where Dudley Benson, Four-part Choir & String Quartet rework songs from Dudley's two Eps, premiered material from his forthcoming album The Awakening and offer their take on Kate Bush's Hounds of Love. The songs are: Domino, The Awakening, Deep River, Lingeress, Asthma, Resonate, Audrey H, It's Akaroa's Fault, Hounds Of Love, On The Shoulders & I Don't Mind (recorded in St Matthew-in-the-City, Auckland by RNZ)
