9:30 NEU!, in memory of Klaus Dinger
Modern music saw some serious reinvention in the early 1970s at the hands of a generation of musicians raised amidst the trauma of post-war Germany. As well as Tangerine Dream, Can and Faust, there was NEU!, who splintered from an early line-up of fellow German pulse pioneers, Kraftwerk. After releasing their pivotal third album NEU! '75 only a few years later, NEU! split, leaving a small but powerful legacy that has lost none of its potency 30 years later. Marking NEU! '75's 30th anniversary, Andrew Clifford paid tribute with an introduction to their visionary recordings and an exclusive interview with NEU! guitarist Michael Rother (RNZ)
