    Korea: Music for the gayageum

    The gayageum or board zither is probably the best-known traditional Korean musical instrument, and has a history that can be traced back to the Silla dynasty (57 BC to 935 AD). In today's programme, gayageum master Byungki Hwang plays gugak - Korean 'national music' which includes both traditional music from the past and more recently composed music for traditional instruments (ARC Music EUCD 2097)
