    Arthur Sullivan, the very model of a modern theatrical composer in his day, is best remembered for his famous and popular collaboration with WS Gilbert. Starting with Thespis in 1871 and ending with The Grand Duke a quarter of a century later, the Gilbert and Sullivan team produced some of the most popular and witty works of their kind.
