Canção ao lado - Deolinda (Portugal)

Today in Global Sounds we featured music from Canção ao lado (The Song Next Door). It's the debut album from Deolinda, a quirky 4-piece band from Portugal fronted by singer Ana Bacalhau. The songs (all written by Pedro da Silva Martins, one of the band's two guitarists) are inspired by fado, but it's fado that's been turned on its head, with the traditionally melancholy mood replaced by gently mocking humour. Deolinda recently won the Newcomer category of the 2010 Songlines Music Awards (World Connection WC43084)
