Passion du Tango - Sexteto Mayor

In November 1972, six solo tango musicians from Buenos Aires came together to play at a festival in Patagonia, in the far south of the country. The following year, Sexteto Mayor was formed

José Libertella and Luis Stazo, the group's founders and bandoneón players, recalled difficult early years - at that time all the other ensembles were twice the size and had all the best singers! Sexteto Mayor's big break came in 1981 when they were asked to play at the opening of Trottoirs de Buenos Aires, a new tango club in Paris

Today in Global Sounds we'll hear music from Passion du Tango, a compilation of highlights from the ensemble's 30-year career (Network Medien 25.192)
