Almost 300 years later, Cantemir's collection (which includes some of his own pieces) has provided the inspiration for Jordi Savall's project Istanbul. In his project, Savall performs music from the collection, interspersed with music from the Armenian and Sephardic traditions. Savall's regular ensemble, Hesperion XXI, is supplemented by guest musicians from Turkey, Armenia, Israel, Morocco and Greece (Alia Vox AVSA 9870)
