  • 9:00 AM. Composer of the Week

    MIKE NOCK (b1940)

    Meeting of the Waters

During the last 25 years NOCK has focused more and more of his compositional energies on writing notated works. With this music he has explored the richer palette that larger jazz groups and orchestral instruments offer, and sought to establish a rapprochement that links all of the music he loves: jazz in all of its colours; popular song; western art music, in particular that of JS Bach; and world musics. This programme examines some of that music and the techniques NOCK has used to accommodate these various idioms. Presented by Norman Meehan (RNZ)
