In Auckland, Paul Downie builds keyboard instruments ranging from tiny clavichords to grand fortepianos. And, in Castlemaine, Victoria, Michael Grinter has branched out from baroque and renaissance recorders to gain international attention for his wooden flutes and Irish whistles.
