    It was a tremendous programme which would have taxed the capabilities of the world's foremost pianist, but Lola Johnson sailed through it with an ease that amounted to nonchalance (Wairarapa Times Age, 1957)

    The Wanganui-born pianist Lola Johnson was known from a young age for her glittering technique and innate musicality. Fifty-five years after recording the country's first classical piano LP the distinguished New Zealander is still performing and teaching. Since her marriage at the age of 40 she's also been known as Lola Austin. She talks with Peter Mechen (RNZ)
