    Yehudi Menuhin - Statesman of his Century

    Two programmes

    (1) The New York-born violinist Yehudi Menuhin may be remembered best as a musician of virtuosic artistry, but he was also an outspoken and valiant campaigner for human rights. In the first of two programmes marking the centenary of his birth in April 1916, Jon Tolansky talks to the violinist's close personal friend Bruno Monsaingeon, who has produced a career spanning retrospective of Menuhin's performances, from his earliest recordings as a phenomenal 13 year old prodigy in 1929 up to his final recording in 1999 just a few weeks before his death at 82 years (RTÉ Lyric FM)
