  • 12:00 AM. Music Through the Night

    On the Fiddle

A rare chance to tour the vaults of the Music Crime Bureau. Our guide, Steve Danby, will expose shams, subterfuge and careless use of music.

    (2) The vaults of the Music Crime Bureau are open to no-one, but a discrete, modern museum contains many historical souvenirs of Bureau operations. The suppressed Scarlatti manuscripts, including the infamous boogie woogie sonatas. The notebooks containing Anna Magadelena Bach's innumerate attempts to use the rhythm method. Beethoven's metronome, which has, to the consternation of many, been found to run slow, requiring all his published metronome marks to be adjusted.

In this second of two programmes, Steve Danby returns to the darker collections housed within…
