Fiji's prime minister and military commander Commodore Frank Bainimarama is preparing to hand over his command at a ceremony underway in the capital, Suva.
The ceremony has started with a church service at the military's headquarters, Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua.
The leader of the 2006 coup revealed yesterday he would hand over his command to the land force commander Mosese Tikoitoga.
Commodore Bainimarama has been in the military for 39 years and is standing down to prepare for standing in the elections he has promised for the country this year.
