The brig Active sailed into the Bay of Islands in 1814 with Reverend Samuel Marsden and was the first ship to bring European settlers to New Zealand. Thomas Hansen captained the ship that sailed from Sydney. The descendants of Thomas Hansen have loaned an intricate replica of the Active to the Waitangi National Trust in the Bay of Islands to help remind us all about this chapter of our history.

The Auckland firm that repairs and finely restores people's broken treasures, is on a mercy mission this week to Christchurch. Wrightway Studios claims to be the "biggest multi-service restoration organisation in the southern hemisphere", with a team of restoration artists.
Since the two major quakes, it says Christchurch people have been crying out for help. David Steemson has been to check what's happening at Wrightway's Mount Wellington headquarters.
