1:20 Explainer: Covid-19 Vaccination Pass

Anyone who is fully vaccinated against Covid-10 can now request a vaccination pass.

The pass will be required to enter hospitality venues and access community, sport and faith-based gatherings.

A separate international COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate, which provides proof of your vaccination status in order to travel overseas, can also be requested now.

Ken Johnson, senior lecturer in computer science at AUT, joins Jesse to discuss the vaccine certificates.

1:30 Locals join together to battle sand mining off Pakiri Beach

Community groups are fighting against new consents for sand mining off Pakiri Beach, north of Auckland.

It's an area that has been mined for almost 100 years, and opponents are urging people to make submissions to Auckland Council against new consents.

Pre order demand has seen a locally written and published book bring forward its release date. 

The Queen of Muck was scheduled to come out in February next year, but was instead released yesterday, in time to make it under the tree for any young readers!

Once a teacher who published science text books, he's now a prolific writer of young adult fiction set in some of New Zealand's most beautiful places.

His most recent book, published earlier this year, is the illustrated non-fiction book 'Inside Bubble Earth: Climate Change'
