1:15 Freshwater fish release at Zealandia

Zealandia and Taranaki Whānui ki te Ūpoko o te Ika have begun releasing freshwater bully into the Wellington ecosanctuary after collecting them using a traditional method.

While Toitoi  are common around New Zealand, but prior to 2023, they'd been completely lost from Zealandia.

Whakaweku is a traditional Māori catching method using bundles of rārahu - bracken fern - that was tried as a collection method for this project.

1:25 Roller skating renaissance to be celebrated in Taranaki tomorrow

Tomorrow the World Skate Oceania Artistic Championships and Pacific Cup are kicking off in New Plymouth.

Assistant team coach Macarena Carrascosa will be there.

After a career as a competitive artistic roller skater Macarena Carrascosa started her business, aptly named, Hey Macarena, in 2016.

She runs classes teaching all ages the joy of roller blading, on top of her gig as assistant team coach at the High Performance Coaches Commission. She shares her skating insights with Jesse.

With the renewed prominence of Matariki in our lives and associated research of Māori Astronomy there's a constant flow of new information to share on how to appropriately mark the annual event.

Victoria Campbell is an advocate for Māori astronomy and the natural world, she's also spearheading research into South Island Māori astronomy through her work with Tūhura Otago Museum.

She's talks to Jesse about what she's uncovered and how it can help shape Matariki events.

2:20 Update on Oz with Brad Foster

Brad Foster reports on the search for a mum and newborn baby in Sydney after evidence of a birth on the banks of a river in Sydney's south west were found by a man walking in the area late on Monday. He also reports on a nationwide initiative by a radio personality and filmmaker to increase the age of social media use by teenagers from 13 to 16 to reduce what they describe as "an anxious generation". He also talks film and footy.

2:30 Music feature: Paying tribute to Rodger Fox

Rodger Fox was a heavyweight of the Aotearoa New Zealand jazz scene

For over five decades he led the Rodger Fox Big Band, championing young kiwi musicians on a global stage. In the process he recorded almost 50 albums!

Rodger was also instrumental to music education, helping set up the first jazz course at Wellington Polytechnic - now Massey university.

A few weeks ago he sadly passed away aged 71.

For our music feature today music writer and former concert promoter John Dix joins us to remember his legacy.

3:10 Game of Thrones recipes, the official cookbook released

"Eat hearty, my friends. Winter is coming." It's one of the most famous lines from the Game of Thrones, the wildly popular HBO series based on the books by George R. R. Martin.

Amateur chef and self-confessed fantasy literature fan, Chelsea Monroe-Cassel makes it possible to eat like they do in  Westeros.

She recreates food from fiction  like the Game of Thrones, Star Trek and Lord of the Rings. 

In her latest book, she and her co-author take a culinary journey through the Seven Kingdoms with 80 recipes including Seaweed Ship's Biscuits and Winter Town Wassail. 

It's called The Official Game of Thrones Cookbook: Recipes from King's Landing to the Dothraki Sea.
