The National final of the Smokefree Rockquest is on this weekend, with eight bands from around the country competing for the top spot.
The event has been a regular on the New Zealand music calendar since 1988 and has produced some of our best known musical talent; Midnight Youth, Opshop, Evermore, Ladyhawke, Zed, Brooke Fraser, Anika Moa, Aaradhna, The Feelers, Nesian Mystik, Bic Runga, and Julia Deans among them.
Saturday's National Final will feature last year's runners up, Auckland-based four-piece The Daffodils, who play Jesse's first song today.
