While many of us were braving the crowds at the malls over the weekend to get Christmas presents sorted, a hardy bunch from all over the South Pacific and Asia were racing non-stop for 48 hours on the rugged South Island west coast.
The event, called the True West Race was a multi-discipline race traversing the most remote and wild terrain of the region.
The event organiser is Nathan Fa'avae, himself an adventure racing world championship winner! He talks to Jesse.
